This data consists of existing bikeways, grouped by "On-Street" to include the following types:

BIKE LANE – STANDARD: In most cases new lanes will fall into this category. This is the standard bike lane with striping, generally along the edge, of either side of the road.

BIKE LANE- TWO WAY: This Bikeway Type will be a single lane, with bikeway travel in both directions.

BIKE ROUTE: This type must have a green sign with a white stencil; they are no longer commonly installed. The primary indicator of a bike route is the sign. They typically do not have any markings or striping along the road, although one may rarely find "Sharrows" accompanying a bike route sign.

BUS BIKE LANE: These lanes will have paintings or markings noting that the lane is shared by both bicycles and buses.

BIKE BLVD: This type can have bike dots, markings, no markings, or just signage identifying this type. Most often there are signs denoting BIKE BLVD.

SHARED USE – PAVED: These types will have some sort of paving, but will be available for pedestrians, cyclists, scooters, etc. These paths will be detached from a roadway and are generally too narrow for automobile traffic. They can often be found along canals, or near roads where there is no dedicated striping for bicyclists.

SHARED USE – UNPAVED: The description above for SHARED USE - PAVED also applies to this type, except it will not be an improved, paved surface. There are many hiking trails where foot traffic may be shared with cyclists.

BRIDGE: This type will consist of a raised surface, or bridge usually intended to connect other group types, although it can sometimes be a stand-alone or terminal point.

TUNNEL: Tunnels, like bridges, usually connect to other groups.

There are also Potential Connectors and Removed Routes. These types are meant to be transitional, and do not represent the actual bikeway network.

This data is used in EZMap and open data AKA existing bikeways in EZMap. Grouped Bikeways are updated weekly by the GIS Asset team.

|
