Service Description:

The Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool from the Council on Environmental Quality and the USDA Food Access Research Atlas from the USDA were used to create the “Climate and Economic Justice and Food Access” metadata.

The Climate and Economic Justice Screening Tool datasets are indicators of burdens in eight categories: climate change, energy, health, housing, legacy pollution, transportation, water and wastewater, and workforce development. The tool uses this information to identify communities that are experiencing these burdens. These are the communities that are disadvantaged because they are overburdened and underserved. The data was downloaded on May 21, 2024 and was last updated on Nov 22, 2022.

The USDA Food Access Research Atlas maps food access indicators for census tracts using ½-mile and 1-mile demarcations to the nearest supermarket for urban areas. USDA Food Access Research Atlas from the USDA was downloaded on May 21, 2024 and was last updated in 2019.
